Foundation Temple Church of Christ was founded on May 5, 1965 by Overseer MA
Jackson in Newark, NJ. Overseer Jackson faithfully led the organization until her death
on March 24, 1994. Throughout those years, there were associate congregations in
Newark, NJ and Raleigh, NC. Upon the death of Overseer Jackson, the congregation
was led by our current pastor, Rev. Kenny Gilchrease, Sr. and had associate
congregations continued in Newark, NJ and Worcester, MA.

In 1996, Rev. Gilchrease was consecrated Bishop, fulfilling a long-time prophecy of Overseer Jackson that God would raise up a Bishop from the congregation. Bishop led the congregation until his work took him to Dallas, TX in 2007, at which time, Bishop Gilchrease combined Foundation Temple with Beth-El House of Prayer under the direction of Pastor Hester Innis. In 2012, Beth-El closed its doors, leaving Foundation and its members without an edifice. However, throughout all the years, Bishop Gilchrease ensured Foundation Temple Church of Christ continued to have outreach ministries; continuing the work it is known for, feeding and clothing the homeless and destitute.

In 2021, Bishop Kenny and Lady Geniecesa Gilchrease revived the congregation through social media and is faithfully continuing today. While all services are currently remote, our Pastor is diligent in his work for the Lord, winning souls for the kingdom of God.
